Our family lives in a wooded area of the
Scottsborro Community in North Western
Davidson County. As an herbalist, one of my
passions is observing the ever changing flora
around my home. These photographs are
primarily of medicinal plants, but there are a
few wildflowers whose virtues have either been
forgotten or yet to be discovered;to paraphrase
Emerson. I hope you enjoy these images as
much as I have and should you have questions
or comments, please feel free to contact me.

And last but not least, a ginseng plant that is a little out of the norm. Most ginseng plants have three leaves with five leaflets each. This one has four leaves and seven leaflets. I once had a plant with five leaves but someone discovered it and traded me a hole in the ground. I hope the plant was happier with it's new home than I was with its new owner.
