What is Electro Dermal Screening.  CEDS (computerized electro dermal
screening), sometimes called bio-energetic testing, has been in use world wide
since the early 1970's. It is a safe and noninvasive screening technique that
measures the ability of the body to transmit a milliamp of current through various
acupuncture meridians. The value of the current is so low that it produces no physical
sensation  Based on the measured resistance, we can make assessments on the
balance of the system. Each individual acupuncture point can provide specific data
which can help identify the source of the problem far beyond simply  identifying the
symptoms. After determining the nature of an imbalance, we then attempt to create a
positive response utilizing herbal, nutritional, or homeopathic remedies. Once
balance is restored to the body, most clients experience a renewed sense of
wellness and a return to good health.
ABOUT THE ORION SYSTEM: (technical explanation)

The ORION System is part of the larger field of Bioenergetics or Bioelectromagnetics
(BEM), which includes energy devices from thermometers to MRIs. Bioenergetics
studies how living organisms interact with electromagnetic (EM) fields (Rubik and
Flower, 1994; Becker, 1990).

The ORION System is an electronic device that measures high and low current flow in
any substance, including the body. Georg Simon Ohm (1787-1854), a German
mathematician and physicist formulated the relationship between current, voltage and
resistance. The relationship, known as Ohm's Law, is the basic law in electrical
engineering for current flow. The device measures the resistance (units of ohms) or
conductance (units of mhos) of the current flow.

In the 1950's, Reinhold Voll (1909-1988), a German medical doctor and acupuncturist,
found that the ohmmeter could measure specific conductance sites on the body.
Scientists and engineers have studied the electrical properties of acupuncture points.
They found most of the skin has a resistance of about 2,000,000 ohms or a
conductance of about 0.000001 mho, but the conductance sites on the skin have an
optimal resistance of 100,000 ohms or an optimal conductance of 0.00001 mho
(Rosendahl, 1943; Nakatani, 1956; Niboyet, 1958; Hyvannen and Karlsson, 1977;
Tiller, 1982). Because of the very large resistance and the very small conductance
values, Voll established a scale from 0 to 100, where 0 is the higher resistance or the
lower conductance and 100 is the lower resistance or the higher conductance.

Scientists have found that it is possible to measure the conductance values on the skin
in the absence and presence of different stimuli. The stimuli include anything that
produces an evoked potential in the body that can change the conductance value.  A
stimulus can be from smell, tastes, touch, sight, hearing, and EM fields and can
produce an anatomical or physiological response. The skin responds to heat and cold;
the stomach responds to spicy food; the muscles respond to running a marathon. All
the changes are part of the body's response to daily actions. The body receives many
stimuli, but some stimuli produce stress somewhere in the body. When the stimuli
create an energy imbalance that does not stop, the imbalance can produce a domino
effect through the body. The purpose of the ORION System is to measure conductance
that is linked to the anatomy and physiology of the body. The operator observes
conductance readings with and without a stimulus and from visit to visit. The operator
observes the differences in the patterns of the conductance readings at different
conductance sites.

As a comparison, the thermometer is used to measure temperature patterns of the
body, while the ohmmeter is used to measure electrical patterns of the body. When the
temperature is unbalanced, heat or cold or chemicals can stimulate the body and
produce a balanced temperature.

When the energy flow is imbalanced, the body can be stimulated by selected EM fields
to change the conductance until a specific EM field produces the balanced
conductance. In the field of Bioenergetics, the ohmmeter is an accepted tool in
measuring conductance across the body and has been used for many years to
measure skin conductance during biofeedback. Research during the last fifty years has
also shown that specific locations on the body can be identified by a lower
characteristic conductance value (Voll, 1976-8, 1980, 1983; Tiller, 1982; Hyvannen and
Karlsson, 1977; Kenyon, 1983; Rosendahl, 1942, Tenforde and Kaune, 1987).

In the application of EM fields to the body, the National Institute of  Health (NIH) of the
United States has stated that the current status of basic research in BEM may be
summarized as follows: It is established that nonionizing nonthermal EM fields exert
measurable bioeffects in living organisms. In general, the organism's response to
applied EM fields is highly frequency specific and the dose-response curve is
nonlinear. Extremely weak EM fields, at the proper frequency and site of application,
can produce large effects, either beneficial or harmful. (Rubik and Flower, 1994.)

A "beneficial" effect produces a balancing and a "harmful" effect produces a provoking
as measured by the ORION System ohmmeter circuitry. The "beneficial" effect helps
the body become balanced; the "harmful" effect causes the body to become
unbalanced. A balanced measurement is a reading that is inside the optimal range; an
unbalanced measurement is a reading that is outside the optimal range (Chen, 1996;
Tsuei, 1996).

The ORION System has a database of nonionizing, nonthermal, low energy, frequency
specific EM fields that can be selected and output by the operator. An ionizing signal
has high output like a TENS device which can generate a pulse that causes muscle
contraction, while a nonionizing device is not felt or is barely felt. A thermal signal has a
high output like a microwave device that can cook food, while a nonthermal device
generates no heat. The energy output of the signal generator is a maximum of 5 volts
and 20 microamperes. The database of EM fields, called the Virtual Database,
represents a large selection of frequency specific EM fields.

The purpose for an EM field is to produce a bioeffect. The ability of an EM field to
produce a bioeffect is established by research (Rubik and Flower, 1994). The bioeffect
as measured with an ohmmeter is a balancing or provoking of the conductance
readings along the energy pathways of the body.

The importance of gathering information about energy pathways in the body can be
compared to the complex patterns generated by an electrocardiograph (ECG) or the
simple data collected with a thermometer. Like the ECG or temperature patterns, the
bioenergetic patterns must be interpreted and like the thermometer reading, a
bioenergetic reading can be collected quickly and conveniently.

The ORION System combines ohmmeter technology with a signal generator that
produces EM fields. The EM fields available from the ORION System are in a list called
a Virtual Database. The Virtual Database is organized into categories and
subcategories that contain the names of many products and an EM signal that can be
transmitted for each product. The Virtual Database imbedded within the ORION
System remains the proprietary property of Star Tech Health Services.

In conclusion, research has established that an ohmmeter can measure energy
pathways in the body and EM fields produce bioeffects in the body. The ORION
System is an ohmmeter and a signal generator for measuring energy imbalances
related to endogenous and exogenous EM fields. The measuring process is called
Computerized Electro Dermal Screening (CEDS).

Computerized Electro Dermal Screening
During a session we will check points on the hands and feet, looking for
imbalances in the various systems of the body. We can then decide what
remedy is needed to balance the body so it can return to a state of good
health. I look for a number of imbalances that relate to but are not limited to:

viruses                          bacteria                          fungus
yeast                              mold                               nutritional balance
hormones                     food allergies               immune function
emotional health         heavy metals               environmental toxins

In recent sessions I have seen years of previously unexplained
migraines completely alleviated, clients with incontinence completely
regain bladder control, and clients with  gas and bloating eliminate
their symptoms with the use of anti-parasitic remedies. It is a simple
process that can provide amazing results. If you don't currently have
symptoms, why wait until you do.

Prevention is the best way to maintain wellness.
There is very little to do in preparation for a  screening. Hydrate yourself, and
that doesn't mean to drink tons of water, but you do want to avoid being dehydrated.
Easy on the coffee. Coffee not only stresses the adrenals, but it dehydrates the
system. Try not to use hand lotion in the few hours before your visit. Lotion makes it a
little more difficult to be screened. And finally, wear comfortable clothing. We will
check the points on both the hands and feet and our initial session. This initial
session averages about one and a half hours. And finally, bring any supplements that
you are currently taking so that  we can be sure they are right for you.
